there's shattered glass on tarmac
and the streets are lit with a cadmium glow
my overcoat held at my throat
and the blacktop stars they lead me home
and in a labyrinth of lamp lit living rooms
there's entire families absorbed in spectra
erratic saccades and i'm walking with purpose
everything is normal
but i'm nervous
behind a balustrade of battered books
with shut eyes i realign my world view
amongst the mottle we're the pale blue

staring at a ceiling of ochre
backed by deep blue firmament
and with that i welcome torpor
avoiding the dark current
i'm crashed out and liminal
with suitcase cancelled eyes
i'm awaiting sleep but i have my doubts
and the reverie is turning minimal
still transfixed
old memories surface
oblique night light
is no longer working
and when the blue black breaks
for the autumn rays
we'll all just
fit in

daydreaming
of the passing of time
and all the extras
are on the coast line
they all say the same things
let the curtains dance
intoxicated epiphanies
let's slow the time down
now we smile
